Why take any physical notes when writing everything down on your iPhone is safer, right? Well, that’s not always the case. Your work notes, shopping lists or appointments are as important as any other type of data stored on your iPhone, so make sure that you don’t lose them by mistake.
Your iPhone notes could get lost if you delete them, lose them after an update or if your iPhone gets damaged or stolen. Syncing your device with iTunes on a regular basis is a necessity. Each time you sync your device, a backup is made. The backup can be used to extract your iPhone, even if you don’t have your device anymore.
How to Recover Notes from iTunes Backup
If you wish to extract Notes from an iTunes backup and restore them on your iPhone, you could do it by connecting your iPhone with your laptop/computer, on iTunes go to “Summary” and then click on the “Restore Backup” button. The notes will be restored on your device (considering that this is the main purpose of iTunes), but it will also overwrite all the other existing data from your phone.
Unfortunately, you cannot selectively recover notes this way. Enigma Recovery however, can. This tutorial will teach you exactly how to extract notes from an iTunes backup file in just a few easy steps.
Enigma Recovery can also be used to recover and extract other types of data, such as:
- Calendar entries
- Call history
- Photos & Videos (from backup files only)
- Internet history (from backup files only)
- WhatsApp history (from backup files only)
Step 1 – Install and open Enigma Recovery
Install the Enigma Recovery software on your computer, and open it.
Step 2 – Recover notes from iTunes
On the left side menu, pick the “Recover from iTunes backup” option.
Step 3 – iTunes backups
On this step, all of the available iTunes backups will appear on the main screen. Pick the one that you wish to extract notes from, and then click on “Next”.
Step 4 – Download and Scan
The software allows you to extract files based on the data type. At this point you can choose to extract notes from the iTunes backup file by clicking on “Notes”.
Step 5 – View extracted notes
After the scanning is complete, click on “Notes” on the left side menu to view the recovered files. To extract them to your computer, hit the “Export” button. You’ll have the possibility to export all the data, the current tab, or only the previously selected data.
That’s it! All of the Notes contained in the iTunes backup file are now transferred to your computer in .CSV or .XML format.
