Your Damaged iPhone

Buying a new iPhone can be an investment for most people, considering that it cost a lot of money. But it’s all worth it as it turns into the perfect personal electronic PA. Breaking an iPhone means that you risk losing all of your contacts, text messages, notes, calendar entries, not to mention your important photos and videos. The good news is that there’s still hope for you in case you damage your iPhone. This article will give you two possibilities on how to recover data from a broken iPhone.

Recovering your data

Enigma Recovery is the best tool that allows you to recover deleted and existing data and it works on devices such as iPod Touch, iPads and iPhones. Here’s what you need to do to recover data from your broken iPhone:

  1. Download Enigma Recovery and open it;
  2. Connect the device to your computer or laptop, or pick iPhone backup file;
  3. Trust computer (Device only);
  4. Select iPhone backup (iTunes and iCloud only);
  5. Scan the device or backup file;
  6. View existing or deleted data;
  7. Restore or Transfer data.

The Enigma Recovery software is used in cases such:

  • Deleting texts, contacts or other type of data by mistake
  • Losing the device or worst, when it has been stolen;
  • Damaging or breaking the device;
  • Losing data after an iOS upgrade that didn’t turn as planned.

There are many ways to damage an iPhone, but the most common ones include: breaking the case or the screen, errors that can occur after software upgrades or even dropping it into the water. If you’re unfortunate enough to drop it into water or any other type of liquid, plugging the phone or connecting it to any source of electricity is definitely a bad idea. Make sure that it’s dry first, inside and out, or you risk damaging the internal board too. After drying it out, you can continue with the following options in order to retrieve data from your broken iPhone.

  1. Recovering data from the backup files
  2. Retrieving data from the broken device

iPhones give you the possibility to choose if you want to sync your device with iTunes and iCloud. If this setting is on, your iPhone automatically creates a backup every time you sync it, this way you can recover your data if you want to, or in case something happens to your phone. You can try both options to recover data from your broken iPhone. If your device has no battery or it’s impossible to recharge it, recovering the data directly from the device may be harder. So the first option may be the perfect solution in this case. You will be able to recover the data that you previously had on your iPhone, more specifically, the data that you had at the moment you last synced to iTunes or iCloud.

Enigma Recovery

Enigma Recovery will help you recover and restore existing and deleted:

  • Text Messages
  • Contacts
  • iMessages
  • Notes
  • Calendar entries
  • Call history
  • Photos (from backup file only)
  • Videos (from backup file only)
  • Internal history (from backup file only)
  • WhatsApp history (from backup file only)

The software offers a method of recovery that’s easy to use. Not to mention that it’s as safe as it gets. It works by creating an identical database of your iPhone, allowing you to recover deleted items and to save data to your laptop or PC. The tool uses recovery algorithms that were created so that everyone could use them, no matter the age or profession.

1. Recovering data from the backup files

This method will work only if you synced your device in the past, otherwise, it won’t be any backup available to extract the data from. You can retrieve data from your broken iPhone, by following the next steps:

Step one – Download Enigma Recovery

Download Enigma Recovery on your computer. It is available for both Windows and Mac, and it works the same no matter what operating system you use. Click the “Start download” button and follow the necessary steps detailed on the download page.

Step two – Select your device

After opening the software, pick the type of the device. In case you want to recover data from a broken iPhone, pick “iPhone”. Select the iTunes or iCloud recovery options from the left to recover from a backup. The iCloud option will require your ID log in.

Step three – Select a backup

You will immediately see all the backups that are available. Check the “Date” column before choosing one, because by picking an older backup you will recover the data you had at that time, not the latest one. Pick the one that you want to retrieve and click the “Next” button.

Step four – Scanning

Now you have the possibility to choose what you want to recover. You can choose to recover only your photos for example, or you can pick “Select all”, and start the process for everything that it’s contained in the backup file. Select “Start Scan”. It may take a while for the software to scan everything, depending on how much data there is to restore. Give it time to finish scanning for the deleted and existing data that was available on your device at the moment that backup was created.

Step five – The scan report

After the scanning is complete, everything that was stored in the backup is now presented in a report. Click on all of them to see what it has been recovered. You can also restore, which means that the data will be restored back to your iPhone or tablet.

Step six – Export data

After viewing all the data, it’s time to export it to your laptop or PC. If you want to transfer, click the button “Export”. On the window that opens, select what you want to export to your PC: only the selected data, the current tab or to export all data. Click “Export”.

2. Retrieving data from the broken device

For this method, you will need a USB cable in order to connect your device to your PC or laptop. You also have to download iTunes and install it, in case you don’t already have it. For recovering data from your broken iPhone, all you have to do is follow the next steps:

Step one – Download and install Enigma Recovery

Download Enigma Recovery and install it on your PC. It will work for Windows and Mac, so it doesn’t matter which one of these OS you use.

Step two – Pick the device

Open the program and select the iOS device that you want to connect to the software. Use the USB cable to connect your iPhone to the computer.

Step three – Choosing data

The software will immediately recognize your iPhone, so all you have to do is to trust the computer (this will be available on your device only). Choose what you want to transfer from your damaged iPhone to your PC (messages, contacts, notes, photos and so on). You also have the possibility to select all of them. After you’re finished, click “Start scan”. It may take a while to scan all the data, but it depends on how much data is stored on the iPhone.

In case your device is too damaged and the software isn’t recognizing it, try to follow the steps mentioned above at the first option: Recovering data from the backup files.

Step four – Scan Report

After the scanning is over, you will be able to see in the report what existing and deleted data was detected by Enigma Recovery. The feature tabs are clickable, in case you want to see more details on the recovered data.

Step five – Export Data

After seeing your data, you can export it on your laptop or PC by clicking the “Export” button. You can transfer the tab you are currently viewing, export selected data only or you can transfer all data at once. The recovered data will be transferred to your PC in .CSV or .XML format.

You can also restore the data on your device from which it was transferred, by choosing to “Restore” with our free Restore app available on the App Store.

  6. Hi, my iPhone is disabled. The screen smashed and then it got dropped again, its bleeding inside. Then somehow due to this the security code was somehow being entered wrong (as phone malfunctioning) so it locked and disabled it. Apple have told me there is nothing they can do as this is a ‘security feature’ of the phone. Will Enigma be able to recover my photos, contacts and notes?
